The nitty gritty

Peer-to-peer lending

Peer-to-peer lending is a rapidly growing, FCA-regulated form of investing in which people with money who are looking to achieve an interest return are able to lend collectively to credit-checked individuals and business who are looking to borrow.

RateSetter is a one of the biggest peer-to-peer lenders in the UK. They've been around since 2009 and have invested a total of £1.8 billion in peer-to-peer loans so far.

Exposure & Risk

By investing via RateSetter, you are lending your money to a number of people that wish to borrow on RateSetter, some of which may not pay back their loans. To mitigate this risk, RateSetter has introduced a number of provisions, like thorough credit-checking, loan diversification and the Provision Fund.
